Welcome to my resources page. Over the years, I have gathered insights from writing 26 books, directing award-winning films, leading spiritual communities, and running the world’s only Chaldean Museum. This page is where I share what I have learned with you.
Blog: The Path of Consciousness
My blog is where I write about the intersection of storytelling, heritage, spirituality, and the creative life. Recent posts include reflections on my writing process, lessons from two decades of publishing, the story behind my newest book Chaldean Storyteller in Baghdad, and practical guidance for new authors. Free Monthly Writing Ritual
Every month, I host Writing Ritual, a free gathering for writers at all levels. We set intentions, reconnect with our voice, and honor the practice of showing up to the page. As an Authors Guild Ambassador, I created this space because I believe writing is not just a skill. It is a ritual. A practice. A way of remembering who you are. Writing Ritual meets the second Wednesday of each month at 11 AM EST on Google Meet. We sometimes meet in person. Open to everyone.
For Writers: Getting Started
If you are working on your first book, here is what I have learned from publishing 26 of them. Start by listening. Listen to the world around you, to your family stories, to the silence between conversations. That is where books are born. Find a structure that works for you. Ask yourself three questions: What is this book really about? Who is it for? What do I want the reader to feel when they finish? These three answers will guide every decision you make. Build a writing practice. You do not need to write for hours every day. You need to show up consistently. Even 300 words a day becomes a full manuscript in less than a year. Write what is true. The books that reach people are the ones written from a place of honesty. You do not have to share every detail of your life, but the emotional truth must be there. Revision is where the book becomes itself. Read your manuscript three times: once for story and structure, once for language and rhythm, once for feeling and truth.
